Since the acquisition of Quinta das Lamelas by our family in 1836, the constant demand for quality has always been our priority.
However, in addition to quality, we seek to reflect what Nature gives us, always respecting the essence of the Douro Demarcated Region but also, more specifically, following the characteristics of our Quintas.
The result is distinctive wines with a true identity of their own.
Although we have a strong idea of what distinguishes us, we try year after year to present what the Earth offers us.
We believe that to best value our treasure, resorting to traditional methods is the answer. Thus, at Quinta das Lamelas, the grapes are, in their entirety, harvested by hand using only small tractors to facilitate transport.
Foot treading is the method still used in the vinification of our Port Wines.
The result can be seen in our wines, which have a much higher quality, with a strong identity.

Port and Douro wines

Quinta das Lamelas is a family project started in 1836 and still focused on the production of unique and superior quality Port and Douro wines.
Vineyards
It is at Quinta das Lamelas that our oldest vines are found, some over 100 years old. Here are planted the traditional Douro red varieties such as Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, often mixed, as was traditional in the Douro until recently. Here we also find Vineyards with more than 50 years of Fernão Pires, a white variety much appreciated by us in the elaboration of our Douro White Wines.
At Casa das Laranjeiras, we have been restructuring our vineyard in recent years. For this reason, the average age of the vine varies between 15 and 25 years. In this plot, the varieties are properly identified and separated. It is from here that we select the basis of our best wines, giving great importance to Sousão, which gives our Vintage Port Wines their uniqueness.
